Cobra Commander

Personality and motivational profile 4

Taking over Millville was one of Cobra Commanders' better plans if you ask me. The way he did it was ingenius, you can't help but admire it.

First of all I have to take a look at Cobra's early days and the kind of people we accept as members. It's been said we only take in losers and people who want everything for free, unemployed people and such like. This claim shows the government's attitude toward those people who are less fortunate than the rich company owners (most of whom inherited their wealth, anyway). If you've ended up unemployed or are down on your luck, the government wants nothing to do with you. Cobra on the other hand is willing to give you a chance to make something of yourself again.

Since Cobra Commander was down on his luck one time himself, too, Cobra's always welcomed people who have been dealt a bad hand in cards. Why would it be bad if Cobra helps these people by taking them in and giving them a new purpose in life? You have to do something, might as well do it in an organization where you're appreciated for what you're worth and have the chance to get promoted justly according to your skills, initiative, courage and drive!

Everybody wants something, even when they're helping someone. Cobra wants you to help yourself by helping Cobra, nothing else. Muslims help and give a certain percentage of their income because it's required, Jehovah's witnesses and christians want to go to heaven or paradise and pretend to be righteous and helpful because of that, banks help with loans by ripping you off when they want it back later... Everybody wants something, it's just a question of what you're willing to pay to get it.

Everybody starts off equal (except those rich bastards I already mentioned). Everybody has the chance to join Cobra, too. The people of Millville said yes to CC, they wanted their town back alive. They chose to ignore the veteran agitator's words against us. The people were given just what we promised them, their jobs back and a crime free environment, no more, no less. Now if you're smart, you join Cobra before it comes down to a situation like in Millville, but it's still your choice. You can always evaluate your life a-new and decide whether you're going to be the government's dog and get kicked around, or start fighting back by joining Cobra.

Pardon me. I seem to have gotten carried away from the subject here. Ahem. It still makes what I said no less valid. But back to the Commander. After studying the 16 Meyers-Briggs personality types I have come to the conclusion our Commander is most likely a representative of the ENTJ personality type. Why? One quote:

"If one word were used to capture ENTJ's style, it would be commandant."
Need I say more? If you want to read what has been said of ENTJ's, try the provided link. Here are a few lines as a pointer, quoted from the site, to clarify why I feel CC falls under this category. ENTJ profile by Sandra Krebs Hirsch and Jean Kummerow, and David Keirsey.

ENTJ

  • "ENTJs take charge quickly and deal directly with problems, especially in situations that involve confusion and inefficiency. They provide structure to the organization to which they belong and design strategies to accomplish their personal and organizational goals. They are 'take charge' people who organise their own and others' external environments. They use their resources to find a way to meet the challenge."
  • "They go after what they want with fusto. They set their sights high and work hard. Work and its related activities may become their lives. "
  • "Occupations that require tough-mindedness, goal direction, and a global perspective tend to attract ENTJs."
  • "Inefficiency is especially rejected by ENTJ's, and repetition of error causes them to become impatient."
  • "As a parent, an ENTJ will be thoroughly in charge, and the children will know what is expected of them and will be expected to obey." It's a pity Billy really didn't get what was expected of him. *sigh*
  • "If our ENTJ is in charge of any kind of enterprise, however small, his temperament dictates that he run it as he would his armies-with an eye to long-term strategies and their derivative tactics, logistics, and consequences."

    Type Eight- Enneagram Analysis

In the Enneagram analysis CC falls into category 8, The Chief. Here are a few quotes from the site behind the link, describing Type 8. As a sidenote, CC also falls under Eight with a 7 Wing, and his Instinctual Variant seems to be Self-Preservational. Type 8 profile by Don Richard Rison and Russ Hudson.
  • "The Powerful, Dominating Type: Self-Confident, Decisive, Aggressive, and Combative
  • Basic Fear: Of being harmed or controlled by others
  • Basic Desire: To protect themselves, to be in control of their own life and destiny"
  • "Potential Neuroses: Antisocial and Sadistic Personality Disorders"
  • "Risk-taking, hardworking, denying own emotional needs. "

I've included the whole description of an Eight with a 7 Wing here. Bold text highlighted by me, cause the line made me crack up, as a somewhat of an understatement in Cobra Commander's case.

  • "Awakened Eights with a 7 wing are often expansive, and powerful. Gregarious and generous, they may display a cheerful bravado. Can be forceful but with a light touch, funny. Often have a sense of humor about themselves. Generally more extroverted, ambitious and materialistic. May talk loud and be sociable partygoers. Sometimes driven to bring the new into being. Can be visionary, idealistic, enterprising. Willing to take risks. May think more clearly than Eights with a 9 wing; 7 wing brings an intellectual capacity. When more entranced, aggression combines with gluttony to form an almost virulent tendency to addiction. Many entranced Eights with a 7 wing have had drug and alcohol problems or tensions around addiction. Prone to temperamental ups and downs - can be moody, egocentric, quick to anger. Tendency to court chaos, inflate themselves narcissistically. Some are ruthlessly materialistic. Can use people up, suck them dry. Maybe be explosive or violent, prone to distorted overreaction."

Self-preservation as Instinctual Variant (by Thomas Condon)

  • "...often grow up poor or struggling. "
  • "Might preach an ethic of selfishness - justify their bullying of intimates as necessary to "toughen them up" for the hard world outside. Life is a jungle, only the strong survive. "
